TPS2663: TPS26630 latch off does not work, if TPS is hot and the TPS is switched on with overload

Part Number: TPS2663

Hello,

I have made some tests with TPS26630 on the eval-Board TPS26630-33EVM.

If I swich on the powersupply for the TPS (TPS is hot) and there is a overload at the output, the TPS does limiting the Output-Voltage and current instead of switching off.

Also there is no fault detection.

Why not ?

Detailed description:

I switch on the powersupply with 20V.

At Vout is a 10R resistor.

I use chanel 1 on the TPS eval.Board.

The current limit is 1A (Jumper  4)

J5 is open (latch off mode)

J1 (error LED) is installed

J2 (PGood LED) is installed

J3 is installed

J5 is open

J6 is installed

-> after power on (with hot TPS) the output is limited instead of latch off.

CH1 / Yello = Power IN

CH3 / Blue = Fault

CH2 / Green = Vout

CH4 / red = current at vout (200mA/Div)

F1 = Voltage at TPS (Vin-Vout)

F2 = Powerdisipation of TPS (F1*current)
