LM7800: What happens if I use this component below 0°C?

Part Number: LM7800

I am testing it in a climatic chamber in order to be sure that the regulation is done properly.

Beside regulation there could be any other problem?

In the next production we will switch to a new component (extended), but we would like to send some of our boards to North pole.

Thanks in advance

  • Hi Raul,

LM7800 was designed, tested, and characterized for operation down to 0 C.  Below 0 C the performance of the regulator may or may not meet the performance depicted in the datasheet.  As you suspect the most likely specification for you to notice a shift is regulation accuracy.

    Very Respectfully,

    Ryan
