TPS2H160-Q1: sink current @ off time.

Hi Team,

The datasheet of TPS2H160-Q1 mentions a minimum I(ol,off) - Off-state output sink current of 75uA.

In tests with below condition shows only 12.5uA, can you please confirm if 75uA is minimum or maximum?

IN1,IN2 Voltage = 2.24V

Diag Enable Voltage = 3.3V

Output Voltage = 12V

Hi Shinu,

The datasheet specifies a minimum I(ol,off) value of -75uA which is the sinking current flowing into the device by applying voltage on Vout when the FET is off. If you prefer to think in positive current terms, this means that the OUTx pin pulls a maximum 75uA in the off state, under the condition that Voutx = 13.5V. The magnitude of this off-state output sink current is lower at lower output voltages.

In other words, seeing 12.5uA should be fine, since the magnitude is well below the 75uA limit.

Thanks for the reply.

Customer requested for additional information on how the Current Limit is working for TPS2H160-Q1 and on below points.

1) During tests observed voltage of 0.78V when there is over current as well as when there is set limit current flowing and also in Open Load condition when no current is flowing through the load? How is this possible?

2) In Datasheet 8.3.6.1, it says that the MCU should turn off the switch in overload condition (highlighted in yellow). Can you clarify if the OUTx pins will go low by itself or will the MCU be required to make the output low? Right now, the statements are contradicting each other.

3) But in Table2 Fault table it is mentioned as in overload condition, the OUTx pins will go to low by itself.
