TPS709: About output capacitor@TPS70950

Part Number: TPS709

Hi team

I want to use TPS70950 for power supply of communication equipment.

But, because of supply rail is long, the output signal  is affected by parasitic component and distorted.

So, I wants to use smaller capacitor.

If you have any data of output current vs required output capacitor, could you share the information?

Best regards.

  • Hi Teritama,

We do not have a curve showing a recommended output capacitor vs output current.  An output capacitor with an effective capacitance of at least 1.5 uF is required to be placed local to the TPS709 OUT pin in order to achieve a stable output.  Your specific application conditions may require higher capacitance.  Since it sounds like your load is remote from your TPS709, you may also want to consider increasing the capacitance local to your load.  Please also keep in mind that you will have a resistive voltage drop due to the long trace.  The TPS709 will output 5 V at the OUT pin; however, you may see a lower voltage at the load.

    Very Respectfully,

    Ryan
