TPS23861: TPS23861 POE testing failure

Part Number: TPS23861

Dear Sir,

Our customer is currently using TPS23861 and they are testing the POE 802.3at report now. The result shows "fail" on Detect_Strategy  and "info" on High_Sig_MaxV shown as below. Could you kinldy help us check if there is modifcation that we could try to pass this both test (specially the Detect_Strategy)? please kinldy give us some advice and we also attach their schematic

And hope to hear form you soon

  • Hi Alec,

High_Sig_MaxV  info is expected and you can compare the sifos report in TPS23861 product folder. The detection strategy is not expected. I noticed that your Sifos test software (ver 4.2.06) is fairly old, and I would strongly recommend updating it to the latest version (ver5.0.02 or at least ver4.2.09) as we common see false failure due to old version of the Sifos test software.Thanks.

    Best regards,

    Penny

  • Dear Penny,

Sorry for the late reply. the customer is currently re-testing it with newer software and we are till waiting fro their feedback . and will let you when we have the feedback form them.

    Cheers

  • Thanks for the updates, Alec.

  • Dear Penny,

Sorry to bother you again, The issue as i mention last time, RD mention that they have other projects having the same issue(fail on Detect_Strategy testing) with the older software(ver 4.2.06). and they might not be able to re-test all the project with newer software. therefore, RD is asking what is the impact for Detect_Strategy fail to the TPS23861 function?and is there H/W modification that we could do to pass the test this with current design?please kinldy let us know, thanks in advance

    Cheers

    Alec

  • Hi Alec,

The schematic looks good to me.  Did you run TPS23861 in semi auto mode or auto mode? I don't think it is a real failure as TPS23861 passed sifos test in all auto and semi auto mode and TPS23861 reference design (TIDA01411) has been certified with EA logo class 4.  I have not seen similar issues from other customers. It is probably a Sifos setup issue for firmware issue. It doesn't concern me too much as all other detection tests passed. Thanks.

    Best regards,

    Penny
