some question about 20S Applications Reference Design(TIDA-01093)

Part Number: BQ76930
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78350-R1,

Hi Sir,

I have two question about this design,

1. As below circuit, I had reference below e2e reply, but I still have question when will possible need report the BAT+ voltage instantaneity? I'll decide whether should add this circuit or not.

 https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/p/574529/2108707

2. As below circuit, why U2-30 need a Vref level? for what? thanks~

Regards,

Driscoll

  • Hi Driscoll,

The circuit for question #1 is to provide the BAT+ voltage to the MCU. This can be used as an input for battery gauging. It is not required, but if you want to understand better how this can be used, you can refer to the BQ78350-R1 technical reference manual (http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sluubd3d/sluubd3d.pdf ). The BQ78350-R1 is a companion controller and battery gauge for the BQ76930.

For Question #2, I think the Vref is being used on the reference design as an interrupt for the microcontroller to transition from sleep to active mode. I am not sure if this is really required - it may depend on how you implement your microcontroller code.

    Best regards,

    Matt
