BQSTUDIO: v 1.3.93

Part Number: BQSTUDIO
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ28Z610,

Hello,

I have download the v 1.3.93 from web site but the installation file is 1.3.90 Build 1 and the date of release from the web page and the installation package are different.

Anyway, I have installed in a clean directory and at first run everything seemed good but later I have been facing some troubles:

1) it seems that starting with EV2300 connected to the board, the SW doesn't recognize the type of BQ attached (in this case BQ28Z610)

2) even on my PC, sometimes the link between EV2300 and bqStudio has some difficult to estabilish

3) the AdvComm is not working well: many times the write/read memory or registers operation gives different results: writing 35 00 to 3e register, the reading is 56 00 etc...  I has not been able to change the sealing keys.

Using the previous 1.3.86 version, all those issues are not present and I change the unsealing keys at the 1st attempt. I have re-installed the 1.3.86 .... and I wait for a further version.

Hope this will be useful

Maurizio

  • Hi Maurizio,

Thank you very much for your feedback. I will make sure this is communicated to the tools engineers.

Also sorry for the troubles you experienced with the newer test version.

  • Thanks Batt.

Today I have checked the bqStudio web page and I see that the .zip file of the installation has been changed :)

Then I have installed the new 1.3.93.3 version in a clean directory and I needed to reinstall the EV2300 driver after installation otherwise the EV cannot be recognized.

After that, the SW recognizes the EV2300 at the start and, if the board is connected, it is able to recognize the IC.

But when I want to change the unseal keys, it continue to doesn't work, look at the following:

      AdvCommLog

I have to uninstall the 1.3.93.3 and install again 1.3.86 .... :( it is a pity, because the last one seems to have some better features than before.... patience, I can work fine with the previous one.

    Maurizio

  • Sorry, Maurizio, I didn't know if broke any features. However, I will give them the feedback so that it can be checked out.

  • It is OK, Batt.

I know that the versions for test could have problems, otherwise they won't be marked "for test only"

What I do not expect is that the trouble is in already consolidated part of the SW, but it is also true that in a SW revision all the modules and sub part can have been revised :)

Bye, waiting to test the next one!

    Maurizio

  • Thank you for your understanding, Maurizio. Also, thanks for helping us become better.
