We are using TPS560200 to step-down 10V to 5V.

We have built the schematic following the guidelines given in the application circuit of the datasheet.

The generated 5V is fed to TLV1117LV33DCYR which in turn generates 3.3V for GSM modem with peak current requirement of 900mA (short duration burst).

At the output of TLV1117LV33DCYR two 1000uF capacitors are used as load capacitors to support the short duration current requirement.

In some cases, we have observed that the output voltage of TPS560200 does not reach 5V and gets latched to around 2.2V.

When the output waveform is observed on oscilloscope, the output fluctuates between 2.2V and 0.7V.

The Enable pin has been left open.

Please suggest any solution.

    From your description, TPS560200 should be under overcurrent protection. Since you peak output current is 900mA, the best way is to change to a 1A DCCD like TPS561201. However, it will require you to change layout. 

    There are two other ways you could try but may not totally solve the issue:

    1) select a smaller value inductor 

    2) reduce the output cap of 1000uf to less than 500uf
