TLV711: Is TLV711 made by CMOS or Bipolar

Part Number: TLV711
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UA78

Hi team,

My customer have some questions about LDOs.

1. Do we have same spec like TLV711 and UA78 and made by BJT(bipolar)?

2. Please kindly suggest the comparison between the LDO made by CMOS and BJT. (cost, die size, spec....)

Thanks a lot for your great support!

Best Regards,

Sean Liao

  • Hi Sean,

TLV711 is with a CMOS; UA78 is with a bipolar process.

    1. Do we have same spec like TLV711 and UA78 and made by BJT(bipolar)?

To get you to the right device, will you share your application requirements? Like Vin, Vout, load current? It would be very helpful in part recommendation if you could also share the industrial section of the customers that need the devices. What's the reason BJT is preferred?

    2. Please kindly suggest the comparison between the LDO made by CMOS and BJT. (cost, die size, spec....)

Each design is different when it comes to cost and die size, it's very difficult to have a general comparison on those terms. For the specification comparison, you may find some general information from this application note. http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva072/slva072.pdf
