UCD3138HSFBEVM-029: How to Program Firmware

Part Number: UCD3138HSFBEVM-029

I have recently purchased a UCD3138HSFBEVM-029 evaluation module and have been reading the User Guide, SLUUA95. It appears the module is not shipped with any firmware loaded. Section A.8 in the user guide states the Device GUI is used to download firmware into the board, and refers to “Using the UCD3138CC64EVM-030 (TI Lit#, SLUU886)” for instructions on installing the Device GUI. I have installed HSFBFirmware-1.1, TI-Fusion-Digital-Power-Studio-3.0.36, and CCS9.1.0.00010.

Using the Device GUI I can scan for a device in ROM mode, but I cannot download the firmware as described in the user guide. There was no .x0 file included with the HSFBFirmware-1.1 download. How do I download firmware onto this evaluation module?

Well dang.  I typed in some instructions, and I thought I hid the reply button to send them, but they are certainly not here.

With the installation, you need to also install the tools for TMS470.  I think that's what our built in projects actually use.

To install the project, don't use project builder.  Click on the project tab at the top of the CCS screen, and select Import CCS projects.  Either find the directory in the downloaded project that holds the .project file and copy the full directiry description and paste it into the open line at the top of the project window and hit return.

Or you can browse your way to the directory, and select the project.  Then click finish, and you should have an error free project.

It's been quite a while, I'm going to mark this as resolved and close it.
