BQ25895: Can BQ25895 detect a battery is attached or not?

Hi,

Is there any way that BQ25895 can detect a battery is attached? I lookup the datasheet the INT pin will raise interrupt when USB input or any FAULT or charge complete.

But I do not find how to detect battery input. Please tell me , thanks.

    Hi Aifei,

    Unlike some of our older chargers, this charger does not have an active battery detect circuit.  However, there are some options for determining battery presence:

    1. If pack thermistor is not attached to TS, TS will report COLD and the charge will not charge. A host processor could use the ADC to measure V(BAT) after using BAT_LOADEN bit REG03[b7] to pull down BAT node.  If only a small capacitor is at BAT, V(BAT) will discharge completely which would mean a battery is not present.

    2. If TS function is hardware disabled (2 matched resistors for divider) and charge is enabled, then the charger will toggle between charging and charge complete in the STATUS registers, STAT and INT pins as the small capacitor on BAT charges then disabled below the recharge threshold.  The frequency of this toggling is a function of the capacitance on BAT.
