LP8860-Q1: Hi, i have a question about LED driver in infotainment cluster.

Hi,

I was studying about LED driver in cluster display and I was wondering what have been changed from old cluster LED driver to new cluster LED driver.

I mean in the past there were not many things to display on cluster and also speed gauge was analog. But these days we started displaying a lot of things and displaying speed gauge in digital way.

My question is that as cluster went from analog to digital, what kind of function of LED driver has been added and what kind of function has become more important?

Hi Yunsik,

In analog cluster , LED's main function is illuminating mechanical pointer.

In digtal cluster , LED's main function is supplying a light source to LCD screen.So we call led driver backlignting driver in digital cluster.

When cluster went from analog to digital,that means we need more power and more diagnostic functions（light short , open diagnosis...）to make sure the driving safety.

I have one more question about cluster system.

I was studying EERD of cluster and i couldn't find any opamp in this system.

is there no need for opamp in cluster system?

The opamp has been integrated into device to make sure the loop stability.
