TPS2493: Question of input capacitor etc.

Hi Team,

Would you provide email list so that I can inform detail customer information

to you about below questions including circuit diagram.

Q1. It is difficult to use a fuse, so the input capacitor (C1) and diode (D1) in the circuit example on the data sheet cannot be placed.

Can you tell me if there is any alternative?

Q2. Could you tell me how to calculate the current detection value when inserting a resistor between the Vcc pin and GND?

Q3. Driving capability of external FET of TPS2493?

    Thanks for reaching out!

    A1. Input capacitance is optional. you can reduce to very low value such as 100nF. However, TVS diode is still needed to clamp the transient voltages with in the abs max voltage of TPS2493

    A2. Please use design calculator to find Rsense. It is available at http://www.ti.com/product/TPS2492/toolssoftware

    A3. The GATE drive strength is 22uA. It is capable to drive multiple parallel FETs, more FETs in parallel means higher effective capacitance and hence slower turn-on time.
