UCC24612: i want to check why the device can be used for CCM mode flyback and so on.

Part Number: UCC24612

Hi team,

i want to check why the device can be used for CCM mode flyback and so on. You know other devices can be only used for DCM. Thanks.

  • The same principle to work in CCM. A rule of thumb is the switching frequency should be below 100kHz or power losses become too much.

  • hi Hong,

whether the device can be used for 200khz, but with a diode in parallel with the mosfet? Thanks.

  • if higher than 100kHz, the switching losses become too much based on what we know from various designs. Parallel a diode to MOSFET does not help to reduce the MOSFET switching losses since the diode in parallel may be turn off before MOSFET turn off when the SR MOSFET generates switching losses.

Please refer to the datasheet about CCM operation.

If your design is still ok with 200kHz and accepted the power losses, it would be ok. You will have to test and find. We provide our experience for your consideration.
