Part Number: TPS54340B
Howdy, my last question on this topic was redirected here. I need help with designing passives (compensation etc) to support a nominal switching frequency on the TPS54340 at 2+mhz, 2.2 mhz would be ideal, for an automotive application.
When I use the "TPS54360-361FAMILY_CALC_TOOL_REVE.xls" the frequency field turns Red, so I'm not sure if that means the value for the cell is "out of bounds" for the calculator.
Thank you so much!
Hi Braon,
What's your input voltage range and output voltage?
TPS54360 has typical Ton-min time 135ns, it may trig this limitation if the step down ratio is too high at Fsw=2MHz.
In reply to Andy Chen:
Andy, thank you for your kind reply.
Input voltage nominal 12V, output voltage 3.3, 1Amp design current
In reply to Braon Moseley:
For 12V to 3.3V at Fsw=2.2MHz, estimated Ton time is 143ns which is quite close to Ton-min 135ns.
You may try LMR14030-Q1 with Ton-min 75ns or LM76003-Q1 with Ton-min 65ns.
LMR16030 is pin2pin compatible with TPS54360, its Ton-min is 90ns but only available in commercial grade.
Andy, great answer thank you. The data sheet says max frequency is 2.5mhz, but you're saying I should stay away from that high end on this part? I do need an automotive part, so I can check out the LM you mentioned.
I'll also proceed with passives to run at 2.2mhz and see how it goes.
