TPS24751: Timer tied to GND

Part Number: TPS24751
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS24750, , TPS25982

Hi Team,

I originally designed in the TPS24750 with the latch fault response but at this time it looks to be out of stock on digi-key. So I want to look into using the TPS24751 but have a quick question regarding the auto retry feature.  If I want to disable the auto-retry, could I simply tie the TIMER pin to GND?

Thanks for the help and best regards,

Jerry

  • Hi Jerry,

Shorting timer pin to gnd disables the protection feature of the device. I will double check and confirm you.

Is it for a new design? Can you look at TPS25982 device.

  • Hi Rakesh,

Thanks for looking into it.  As for the TPS25982, unfortunately it doesn't seem to have an adjustable over voltage protection, we are looking for OV to kick in at 14V.

    Thanks for the help,

    Jerry

  • Hi Rakesh,

I have a follow up question regarding auto-retry. I just want to double check and confirm that if a over voltage is detected and the MOSFET is shutoff, while the voltage is still above the OV threshold, will the MOSFET stay completely off or would the auto retry attempt to turn the FET on?

Lastly, I followed the design calculator available but want to see if I can send my schematic offline through email for a quick review.

Thanks for the help and best regards,

    Jerry

  • Hi Jerry,

The device turns OFF the MOSFET when the input voltage exceeds OV threshold and it remains in OFF state till the input voltage falls below OV falling threshold.

Please email the schematic for review.
