LP87524B-Q1: VIN_BX Part II

Part Number: LP87524B-Q1

Hello,

In the thread, “LP8724B-Q1: VIN_BX”, I understood that all buck VIN_Bx pins must be connected to the same rail as the VANA supply.

But my customer still has further questions as follows.

Even if four VIN rail voltage is the same (not different), each buck converter can not be used separately?

Or in case of the four VIN rail voltage is the same, LP8724B-Q1 can be used as four independent channel buck DC/DC converters?

If not, what would be wrong? What are the reasons they can not be used like that?

Best regards,

K.Hirano

  • Hello,

Can you describe in more detail what is meant by 'used separately'?

As noted in the datasheet for all VIN_Bx pins: "The separate power pins VIN_Bx are not connected together internally - VIN_Bx pins must be connected together in the application and be locally bypassed."  You can control each of the bucks by enabling or disabling through the control registers or the enable pins.

    Regards,

    Chris

  • Hi Hirano-san,

You definitely can turn on the buck converters separately, no problem with that. LP87524B has pre-defined startup/shutdown sequence, but it is possible to overwrite the settings in the registers (volatile memory) through I2C and turn on bucks separately.

    Thanks.
