BQ2970: Over Discharge Current setting

Part Number: BQ2970
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ2980

Hi Team,

I would like to check if I can use BQ297x

Can I get a clear answer regarding the following:

Over Discharge Current setting 0.2A, 0.25A, 0.3A

How do I set the following?

Thanks,

Shlomi

  • Hi Shlomi,

Yes. You can use the BQ2970 family for those current protections. The over current during discharge threshold is set by the value of an external sense resistor. In order to determine this value, you will need to know what specific device you are using. To choose a device, determine your desired protection thresholds and pick the corresponding device from the device comparison table on the datasheet.

  • Hi Shawn,

Kindly select a device that can do that:

Over Discharge Current setting 0.2A,0.25A, 0.3A

    Under Voltage cutoff at 3.0v,3.1v,3.2v

    Thanks,

    Shlomi

  • Hi Shlomi,

I apologize, I had a typo in my last post. I meant to say the BQ2980 not BQ2970. The over current protection threshold for the BQ2970 is configured by the on state resistance of the FETs. The process is similar for both devices, however the accuracy on the BQ2980 is much better.

Unfortunately, we do not currently have a device that can support those under voltage protections. If you would like us to create a device with those thresholds, please contact your local sales representative.
