TPS2121: Current limit function

Hi

Assuming a large capacitance is placed at output of TPS2121.

At start up TPS2121, could it be possible to have damage by the large inrush current flows to output capacitor before activated current limit?

    Hi,

    If you are concerned about the inrush current through TPS2121, you can use the soft start functionality which varies the slew rate thereby limiting inrush.

    This can be done with capacitance on the SS pin.

    Inrush transients usually should not damage this device but can damage loads and cause voltage droops on the supply which can result in incorrect operation.
