TL7712A: Altenate device lower output uncontrol area

Part Number: TL7712A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS3840, TPS3847

Hello,

We would like to monitor 12V rail and active high output. TL7712A will satisfied this requirement but we concerns output uncontrol area.

The datasheet says TL7712A output is uncontrol till VCC=3.6V. We concern if receiver detects high once while power up.

Is there any device this voltage is lower device? The receiver VIH = 1.35V.

Best regards,

Toshihiro Watanabe

  • Hi Toshihiro

If there is an option in your system, you can fix the VCC supply to > 3.5V and give the signal to be monitored at Sense pin. This will solve your problem.

  • Toshihiro,

The "uncontrol area" during power up you mention is called the power on reset voltage (Vpor). The lowest Vpor device we have is TPS3840 with a Vpor of 0.2V for the push-pull output option. The VDD max is 10V so you need to use a resistor divider to monitor 12V but this is a good choice for device because of the very low Iq (300nA typical) and the 1% typical accuracy.

If you do not want to use TPS3840 with external resistor divider, you can use TPS3847 which has fixed 12V monitoring and a Vpor of 0.8V.
