Dear Sir/Madam

We are trying to establish the quiescent current the bq25606 consumes for low system current output. We power our system from just the battery and use bq25606 SW out as the main system voltage to power the electronics. VBUS is normally disconnected (connected only for charging).

I couldn’t see the internal switching regulator efficiency data in the datasheet….for example we wanted to know how much current will be consumed from the battery (at the BAT terminal) if we draw between 100uA and 700uA at SW pin.

I have drawn a diagram for clarification (attached) and with reference to this

In the older device we were using, the BQ24266, we found that for the above condition (700uA ) the current taken from the battery by the BQ24266 was in the region of 2mA

Hey Paramjit,

Please see the following specification from the datasheet. This is the quiescent current while the BATFET is fully turned on, but there is not switching:

Thank you very much for the information.

Just so that i have understood correctly, if we set the BQ25606 to give an system voltage output of 3.5V at SW pin (to supply our system) from a 4V battery and when our system connected to the SW terminal is put to sleep, it only draws current in the region of 100uA.

So can we assume in this state the total current taken from the battery will be 100uA + 85uA (max) ie a total of 185uA?
