UC3907: Load Share Controller for Constant Current?

Part Number: UC3907
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC29002

Hi guys,

Does this Load Share Controller also work with constant current power supplies? If not is there an alternative that you can recommend?

If there are no Load Share Controllers for CC, are there any that work at 50V?

The goal of this is to be able to balance the load of several lamps onto the different phases of a 3 phase power system.

Ideal scenario for the customer would be as follows:

3-Phase-Power -> Phase Selector -> PFC ACDC -> DCDC -> Lamp

Several lamps with DCDC power supply included in each lamp are distributed and depending on how many are in operation, phases need to be selected to put the load onto. Alternative suggestion are appreciated as well.

Thanks,

Franz

  • Hi Franz

    I think you can get the load share controller with constant current power supplies. In effect what you could do is trim the reference level of the sensed signal of the constant current loop to vary the output current from each module so that are evenly matched by the load share controllers.

    You would need access to the control loop for each module and there may be some additional external circuit needs to get it to work.

    The newer version of the UCC3907 is the UCC29002.
