BQ76200: BQ76200 Charge pump Capacitor

Part Number: BQ76200

We want to drive parallels 20 MOSFETS, 20 charge mosfet and 20 discharge mosfet. Can we use 88uf in VDDCP capacitor? What is effect except slow down the rate of rise?

  • Hi User,

The size of the capacitor will be OK for the part, but as you indicate it will take a long time to charge.

As shown in http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slva729 the switching of the FETs goes get slower with more FETs since the internal resistances are fixed, at some point the switching may be too slow, you will have to determine if it is suitable. One possibility to speed up turn off may be the PNP shown in http://www.ti.com/lit/ml/slua618a/slua618a.pdf I have not tested this with the BQ76200.  When adding extra circuits remember that the charge pump has limited current drive capability.
