TPS54360: Connection of Enable Pin

Genius 12635 points
Part Number: TPS54360

Hello Team,

according to data sheet, page 14:
“In applications designed to start at relatively low input voltages (e.g., from 4.5 V to 9 V) and withstand high input voltages (e.g., from 40 V to 60 V), the EN terminal may experience a voltage greater than the absolute maximum voltage of 8.4 V during the high input voltage condition. It is recommended to use a zener diode to clamp the terminal voltage below the absolute maximum rating.”

Do I need to use an external zener when Vin = 50V or can I leave the Enable-Pin open (not connected)?

No need for UVLO!

Thanks and Best Regards,

Hans

  • Hans,

You can leave the EN pin floating to enable the IC. The EN pin has an internal pullup so it will enable if you float the pin. The note you mentioned was for low UVLO with high max VIN. You don't need UVLO so you can just float the pin like you suggested.
