BQ24074: OUT pin driven to 5v

Part Number: BQ24074

I have a question presented about the BQ24074 in a current design.   The OUT pin is a regulated voltage, but the customer requests that they have the capability to drive the node to 5v.  It is not exactly what the request entails, but at the minimum that could be done is disable the input to drive the output.  The Absolute Maximum Ratings specify the voltage at OUT can be in the –0.3 - 7 V range.  What are the effects of driving the OUT pin to 5v ?  Are there further issues shorting the IN and OUT pins to 5V ?
