TPS61150: TPS61150

Part Number: TPS61150

Hi, We currently use the TPS61150 in our application for a 5inch display. The backlight comes on immediatly with power up and goes through the units power up sequence. The display we use is normally black IPS; however this is obsolete and  the only candidate replacement that matches the timing spec  is a TN normally white.

On power up, due to the white backgound on the display, certain colours appear until the  splash screen is loaded, after that everything is normal.

I'm considering  bypassing the TPS chip and using a  backilght driver on the new display.

The reason we are doing this and not redesigning the circuit is for backward compatability for units already in service.

The query is:  If the TPS remains connected to VCC without a load on the led strings outputs, what will the TPS do?

Will it go into shut down, remain passive/ in low power mode?

Regards,

Ger
