Hello,

My customer would like to design inverting buck-boost converters using buck regulators.

Their requirements are as follows.

Vin =<12V

Vout/Iout=-4V/40mA

Vout/Iout=-5.2V/40mA

Vout/Iout=-12V/10mA

Which buck converter would be the best for each rail?

Here is an app note that describes how to use the TPS62150 in an inverting buck boost application.

This could serve your requirements for -4V and -5.2V. We do have a module version of the TPS62150 called the TPS82150 available as well.

For the -12V application, we will get back to you.

Anyway, let me confirm some more about TPS62150.

Vin – Vout has to be < 17V?

GND - Vout has to be < 6V?

Hi Hirano-san,

Yes recommended max Vin - Vout is 17V so TPS62150/TPS82150 may not be suitable for the 12Vin to -5.2Vout case.

Yes, per Section 1.3 in the previously-linked TPS62150 app note, the output voltage should be -0.9V to -6V.

For the -5.2V and -12V outputs, I would recommend taking a look at the LMZM23600, which also has an app note showing the device being used in IBB topology: www.ti.com/.../snva807
