BQ40Z50-R1: Chemistry ID determination for experimental cell

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R1

Hi There,

We are going to be working with an experimental cell in the near future that is capable of very deep discharge. As such we are not expecting to find success with the gauging parameter calculator here:

http://www.ti.com/tool/GPCCHEM?keyMatch=gpcchem&tisearch=Search-EN-Everything

I found a forum post from a couple of years ago that implied that if a close Chem ID match was not found, cells could be sent to TI for characterization. The post in question is here:

http://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/t/615763?BQ27520-G4-Battery-cell-Characterization

So given the experimental cell we are using, there is a good chance we may need to go down the path of sending you one or more cells for characterization. As such I was wondering what this process would look like, in particular:

  1. How long would this process usually take?
  2. Is there a cost associated with it?
  3. Would the characterization be available through TI to possible future users of the cell?
  4. How many cells would we need to send you?
  5. Who should we contact if/when we want to start this process?

Thanks,

David
