BQ2970: BQ29700 charge over current protection release

Part Number: BQ2970

Hi team,

customer need some spec about BQ29700, but I didn't find it on datasheet, please help on below items:

1. Charging over current protection release condition.  is it the VSS-V_ >=OCCmin? how to understanding it ?

2. Discharing over protection release condition. is it BAR-V_ > 1V?

3. Pack BMS Shut down mode. what the shut down voltage and BMS leak current(under protection voltage)

thank you

  • Hi Betty,

    1. Details for this function are listed in section 9.4.5 of the datasheet. It states that the device is restored to normal status from charge overcurrent status when the voltage at the V– pin returns to charge overcurrent detection voltage or higher by removing the charger from the system. So yes, your understanding is correct. There is no hysteresis.
    2. Details for this function are found in section 9.4.4 of the datasheet. The device returns to normal mode when the voltage at the V– pin drops to BAT – 1 V or lower. Connecting a charger will also fulfill this requirement.
    3. The device will enter shut down mode when the device is experiencing one of the faults listed. The leakage current is 100nA.
