TPS61032: Problem with overheat and low output voltage

I reviewed you schematic. It looks good. Can you also share the layout?

When you found the Vout is 1.5V and the IC started overheated, did you use a battery as the power supply? What's the battery voltage now?

Hi Zack,

I was using 2.8V from power supply for testing. Here is my layout which isn't by recommended design by I was impression that it won't be such contributed factor for functionality. Since this is last think to look, in your opinion can this causing all this issue? I just wasnt be sure, it is not schematic.

All traces in your layout is too thin to go through high current. 

For DCDC main current path, we recommend use wide and short traces. Input cap, output cap, inductor should be placed as close as possible to the IC. Please refer to datasheet page 18 Layout Considerations part.

thank you for respond. I see know, what need to be fix. One question, though, in PCB design I marked one of "Via to VBAT plane". Not really sure, what is its function, since it is not on cooper plane. It is typo(maybe should have to be located somewhere else)  or it has some meaning? Could you please elaborate?
