TLC59581: FC1 default values

Part Number: TLC59581

I have been reading out the default (on power up) values for the FC1 and FC2 registers and while most of the fields match what is documented in SLVA744.PDF, there are two fields in FC1 that don't.  These fields are LODVTH and LOD_Removal_EN (as defined in Table 4).  I am reading 0 for both of these fields.  Is this normal, or do I have an issue to be concerned about?

  • Hi Thomas,

The default value of FC1 has already been listed in Table4 in SLVA744, which is supposed to be no problem. And the read back value should be as the same as the given default value. Please check if the FC1 value is correct if you write a specific value to it using the same way.

Please share waveforms of your test result.

  • First, if I write a value to the FC1 register and read it back, I get back exactly what I write, so that is working.  However, at power up, if I read the FC1, the two fields noted previously report 0 instead of 1.   I'm not sure how to post the waveforms here, but I have reviewed then and the data line is not going high at the required time (or near it) to be reporting a 1 bit.  All of the other bits that should be reported as 1s are in fact reported as a 1 (BC, CCR, CCG, CCB and SEL_TDO).

Also, everything from FC2 is correct.

Since I can set the values that I require, this isn't a problem.  I was simply wondering if maybe the documentation was wrong about the default values of LODVTH and LOD_Removal_EN or if I may have a chip that is defective in some way.

  • Hi Thomas,

Can you share your waveform? You can insert figures by clicking "insert files" button.
