UCC28780: high power application

Dear experts,

My customer is wondering if UCC28780 can be applied to high power application like 200W-300W without sync rectify? Do we have reference design or successful story to share? Thanks a lot.

    Hello Minqi,

    Thank you for your interest in the UCC28780 Active-Clamp Flyback controller.

    Yes, this controller can be used for higher power levels, since the control signals are scaled to the appropriate voltage and current levels.  Synchronous rectification is not required for ACF; a simple ultrafast or Schottky diode can be used for output rectification.

    At present, TI does not have any reference designs in the 200~300W range, although I am aware of at least one external commercial design above 200W now underway.  I expect a successful story to be available in the not-too-distant future.
