TPS546C23: Miscellaneous questions

Part Number: TPS546C23

Hello,

Q1

My customer would like to use 1Kohms pullup resister for PMB_DTATA pin.

Does PMB_DATA pin have enough drive capability with the 1kohms pullup resister to make sure Vol specified by PMBus spec?

Q2

How much is the input capacitance at PMB_DATA pin and PMB_CLK pin respectively?

Best regards,

K.Hirano

  • Hi, will ask team review and give feedback to you tomorrow.

  • Hirano-san,

    1) Per the "PMBus Interface" section of the electrical specification table on page 9 of the TPS546C23 datasheet, the PMBus pins are capable of driving a VoL voltage of 0.4V maximum with 4mA of pull-up current.  Whether they can support a 1kOhm pull-up depends on the termination voltage.  For termination voltages 4.4V or less, a 1k pull-up is acceptable, for termination voltages above 4.4V, TI does not guarantee that all parts would be able to reliably generate a valid "Low" voltage on the PMBus pins at all temperatures.

    2) The TPS546C23 loads the PMB_CLK and PMB_DAT pins 1pF typical, 2pF max capacitance to AGND.  This is well below the SMBus specification of 10pF maximum.
