BQ35100: Sense Resistor Placement

Hello team,

Can the sense resistor be placed on the high side of battery using BQ35100? If so, what is advantage/disadvantage of a high side vs low side implementation?

Hello Sepeedah,

Nope, it uses an older platform that can only support low side.

The high side sense resistor option is useful for customers that want a uniform ground. For example, if you have 5 amps flowing through 10 mOhm sense, that's a 50 mV delta between the cell ground and your system ground.
