UCC28C44: Looking for alternative PWM controller

Part Number: UCC28C44
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UC1842

Dear expert,

I'm looking for PWM controller, and found UCC28C44, it's performance and feature could meet my requirment, but it's operating temperature is -40'C~105'C.

I'd like a device that the operating temperature could be -40'C ~ 125'C, package size is VSSOP (8) 3.00 mm × 3.00 mm or smaller, and other performance are similar with UCC28C44, can you share some recommendations?

  • Hello Jack,

I was unable to find a similar part where the parameters are tested for operation at 125C.
    A similar par is the UC1842 .
This is characterised at 125C but it is not available in VSSOP.
    http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/uc1842.pdf.
This is available in ceramic and CFB packages.
It probably also costs significantly more than the UCC28C44

I want to bring to your attention that the UCC28C44 has a maximum operating temperature of 125C as shown in the absolute maximum tables of the data sheet.

This means you can operate the device at 125C but its parameters will deviate from the values in the data sheet.

Perhaps you can still use the UCC28C44 in your application if the temperature excursion is only temporary.
But if you wish to operate at 125C for sustained periods and with guaranteed performance values then you will need to use the UC1842

    Regards

    John

  • Hi John,

Thanks for this info and suggestions.

Yes, my application only occurs that temperature over 105C temperary, I think I have confident to use UCC28C44 with your information.
