LMR23610: current limit behavior

Part Number: LMR23610
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMR14006,

Hi team,

please tell us what type of behavior will IC do in case of current limit. (foldback ?) for LMR23610 and LMR14006

  • Hi Masa,

The LMR23610 implements peak and valley current limit detection. When the high-side MOSFET hits peak current limit, the low-side MOSFET will be forced to stay on until valley current limit is reached. This will override the internal close and lead to frequency-foldback. There is also hiccup mode in this part which will force it to power off and restart if it is in current limit for too long.(64 cycles)

The LMR14006 uses peak current detection, and switches the high-side MOSFET when peak current is detected. It does not override the oscillator so the converter will be the same frequency and just in minimum off-time.

    Hope this helps,

    -Orlando

  • hi, Murray-san

could you share the waveform which shows how IC behaves in case of over current for LMR23610 and LMR14006?
