TPS61253A: Pass-Through mode exit

Part Number: TPS61253A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61022

Hello team,

We can find that the Pass-Through mode entry condition is Vout+0.1V on the datasheet.
On the other hand, what is the exit condition required from Pass-Through mode to restart normal boost operation?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Shinya,

I'll check how the device exit condition from pass-through mode with designer and will let you know as soon as possible. Please be patient.

May I know why customer would want to know this spec? Will it have an impact on their applications?

  • Hi Shinya,

TPS61253A pass through mode exit needs to meet two requirements. First one is Vin voltage is less than 5.06V (typical value), and second one the high side switch current less than a certain threshold. The threshold relates to internal transconductance amplifier output. It's not easy to calculate the threshold. The bench test shows with higher output current, the output voltage needs to be decreased lower to exit the pass through mode.

Could customer take a look at TPS61022? This device has a clear explanation when it will exit pass-through mode.
