LM5050-1-Q1: Maintain external MOSFET off when VS pin is not supplied and VOUT is still present

Part Number: LM5050-1-Q1

Hello,

In my project, i'm currently using LM5050-1-Q1. The setup looks like figure 27 in the datasheet.

The aim is testing the behaviour of controller and MOS when pin VS is not supplied.

In first attempt, I tested the components with the following configuration:

- pin VS is shorted to GND

- I injected 5V (with external power supply) between pin GATE and pin IN

- Voltage between pin VOUT and GND is shorted. Voltage between pin IN and GND is shorted

I noticed that my external power supply delivered the maximum current with a voltage of  2V (more or less). Even if, I change my current limitation, it still delivered 2V.

I observed with thermal camera that controller consumed all current. I tried to search an answer in datasheet but i can not explain why pin GATE and pin In is shorted ( internal MOSFET can be active but i suppose

pin VS must be supplied)

Why does the controller consumes all current in this case ?

Do you know  the behaviour of LM5050-1-Q1 when VS pin is not supplied & VOUT  is still present ?

What is your advice to maintain external MOSFET off when VS pin is not supplied & VOUT  is still present ?
