TPS7A85: Use of feed forward capacitor (CFF)

Part Number: TPS7A85

Hi TI Team,

I've kept the feed forward capacitor as unused (NU). All of our regulators will be a part of some power sequence, the PG line to indicate that a particular regulator is UP.

Since we haven't decided the timing of the whole sequence, I don't want the Cff affecting the PG functionality.

Is having Cff mandatory?

Thanks and Regards,
Binayak

  • Hi Binayak,

    The Cff is not mandatory.
The TPS7A85 is stable without a Cff installed.
This is described in section 8.1.4 in the datasheet, for your reference.

If you need to reduce the noise of the linear regulator to the absolute minimum noise possible, then you will want to install a Cff capacitor.

    Thanks,
