TPS2663: Is TPS2663 immunity level higher than TPS2660?

Part Number: TPS2663
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2660,

 Hello guys,

One of my customers is considering using TPS2663x for their next products. Before that, they were considering using TPS2660.

They have the following question. Could you please give me your answer to the question?

 Q. Is TPS2663x immunity level higher than TPS2660x?

We need higher immunity level device.

According to each device datasheet, TPS2660x passed IEC 61000-4-5 only and TPS2663x passed IEC 61000-4-2, IEC61000-4-4 and IEC 61000-4-5.

From these information, we think that TPS2663 immunity level is higher than TPS2660. Is our understanding correct?

Your reply would be much appreciated.

 Best regards,

 Kazuya.

  • Hello Kazuya san

Both TPS2660x and TPS2663x can meet  IEC61000-4-4 (EFT) and IEC 61000-4-5 (Surge).  IEC61000-4-2 which defines system level ESD test, both the devices can meet this standard as well as the input bypass capacitor helps absorbing ESD pulses.

TPS2660x is rated for 2A while TPS2663x is 6A device. Apart from power rating, TPS2663x has some additional features which improves device turn on performance in case of input voltage transients (refer to section 9.3.2 of the TPS2663x device datasheet).

Can you please help me with the customer use case such as input voltage, load current and any other system level performance that customer is specifically concerned about? Based on your inputs we can narrow down on the suitable part number for the application.

    Thanks & Regards

    Abhijeet

  •  Hello Abhijeet,

Thank you very much for your reply and kind words.

The customer is going to use TPS2660x if it is no problem on their system level EFT and Surge test.

But they were just looking for higher immunity level device for the test failure case.

By the way, they want to use PWP package but TPS2663xPWP has not been released yet.

Could you please give me TPS2663x PWP RTM date?

Thank you again and best regards,

     Kazuya.
