TLV61048: 3.3V-4.5V input, 12V output: what is maximum output current & efficiency?

Part Number: TLV61048
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61087, TPS61089, TPS61088

Hello,

I have a 12V motor that I need to drive from three 'C' cells; nominal total voltage 3.3V-4.5V. I see the EVM design is for 12V out, 2.65V to 5.5V, which is very similar. However, what would be the maximum output current for 3.3V to 4.5V input? Can I get 300mA or more?

Thanks,

Derek

P.S. I checked to see if this part is in Webench but I didn't see it there. Is there a very similar part I could use for Webench analysis?

  • Hi Derek,

yes, the output current could be 12V 300mA if the minimum input voltage 3.3V.

for short period output current without much impact on thermal, the output current could be 0.5A.

the device doesn't has webench, and there is not similar behavior device. but the TPS61087, TPS61089 can be also used for higher current capability.

  • Thank you. We're currently using TPS61088 but looking for a lower cost solution since current is a lot less. The motor runs at 200-300mA for 2 seconds about once every 10 minutes so I'm thinking thermal won't be much of an issue.
