TPS63050: ILIM and PG output

Part Number: TPS63050

Hi

Could you kindly advise on the relation between PG output and ILIM ?

In my understanding, PG output is defined by EN and output voltage not ILIM.

Since ILIM function is active during soft start period, PG does not go high if ILIM is high state.

Is my understanding correct ?

Thank you and best regards,

Michiaki.

  • Hi Michiaki,

Please have a look at table 1. This defines the behaviour of PG if EN=LOW.

In active state (EN=HIGH, VIN present) the PG pin goes low in case of undervoltage lockout, thermal shutdown or if the current limit is reached.

The open question is, what happens if VOUT is above 95%, but the soft start current limit is still active.

I will get in contact with the device expert and let you know latest tomorrow.

    Regards,

    Moritz

  • Hi Michiaki,

Sorry for the delay, just got the response.

The current limit is the one that will affet the PG.

In the case of the soft start, PG will be low as long as the current limit is active.

    So your understanding is correct.

    regards,

    Moritz
