LM5165-Q1: Could LM6156-Q1 directly be connected to a micro-controller?

Hello,

If we would like to convert 24 V from an automotive battery to 5 V or 3.3 V for a micro-controller using LM5165-Q1, could we directly connect the output pin of the LM6156-Q1 to the VCC pin of the micro-controller? Or another LDO is needed or preferred to reduce the noise?

Hi John,

In general MCU can be directly powered by buck switching converter, if the MCU has noise sensitive section like RF circuit, ADC etc.., then LDO maybe required for lower power supply noise.

You may consult the MCU vendor for more detail requirement on the power supply.
