Hi TI

I would like to know if there is OCP on TPS23754-1. If the POE injector protection does not activate, how can it protect itself? Thank you.

Hello Chiou,

The TPS23754 device contain several protection features such as thermal shutdown, current limit foldback, and a robust 100-V internal switch. The internal hotswap FET has a current limit as well.

Additionally a TVS diode on the input is required that can handle some transients.

Hi Michael

We use tps23754-1 which does not have PPD pin. Will it influence any protect function like thermal shutdown, current limit foldback, or current limit of internal hotswap FET? The PPD may be highly related to the protection. Our customer would like to confirm if the POE 12V output,our output design,may have current protect if there is any short happens.

Hello Lenny,

No it will not. PPD allows the programming of the value of UVLO turn on with resistor dividers. If not used the protections are still present.
