TPS3850: Power Dissipation

You can use a simple power dissipation formula such as Pd = (Tj-Ta)/θja but as the datasheet mentions under the absolute maximum ratings table,

The device dissipates very low power, so almost negligible.

Hi Abhinav,

The customer would like to calculate the power dissipation in terms of current flow. Could you please confirm if the equation they used below is a correct approach?

Pd= Vdd*Idd+Icrst*(Vdd-Vcrst)+Icwd*(Vdd-Vcwd)+2*(Vol*Isink-(vdd^2/Rpull))

To accurately consider power dissipation, the customer should take a look at this app note: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/spra953c/spra953c.pdf

You can then use the thermal values in the datasheet to further analyze along with their ambient temps.
