TPS62110-Q1: Noise under light load regulation

Part Number: TPS62110-Q1

Hello,

When using this device it seems under light load regulation we are getting a 60KHz noise on the output with 5V input and 1.2V out.   When disabling the PFM mode  the noise goes away.  Can you confirm that the 60KHz noise frequency is consistent with the PFM mode operation?   Do you believe this noise we are seeing is caused by PFM operation?   If it is likely PFM noise is their a way to eliminate this noise without disabling the PFM operation?

Thank you,

HSG

  • HSG,

That os how PFM works.  Efficiency is increased by reducing perceived switching frequency.  You can verify this by checking the SW node waveform for your operating conditions to see if it is 60 kHz or not.  In PWM mode it will operate at a nominal 1 MHz frequency
