TPS65910: Inquire Ioutmax spec

Part Number: TPS65910
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65218D0

Hi Sir,

Please refer below screenshot, may I know for the Ioutmax spec, 500mA and 1000mA means peak or RMS value?

If it means peak Iout value, can we support higher Iout like 1500mA?

If we need to support DDR3 and Iout need to support 1500mA, can you recommend suitable solution to me?

Thank you.

Edward Chen

  • Look a little farther down the table and you will see 2 more specs:

    • PMOS current limit (high-side)
    • NMOS current limit (low-side)

The lower of these 2 values is the PEAK maximum current, which could be as high as 1700mA.

However, if you are using the TPS65910 to power Sitara AM335x (TPS65910A3x), then ILMax = 01b and both NMOS/PMOS current limits are set to 1200mA such that:

    • Max DC Avg (RMS value) load = 1000 mA
    • Max Peak load = 1200 mA

If you require more current, I recommend TPS65218D0 which can deliver up to 1.8A DC avg. current on DCDC3, which can be set to power DDR3 at 1.5V using DC34_SEL pin..
