TPS7A02: Iq Estimate for 3.3V output

Part Number: TPS7A02

Hi,

My customer is looking at the TPS7A02 for an application that will be mostly drawing 2uA with some peaks up to 100mA. They would like to know what the Iq would be at 2uA for a 4V input and 3.3V output. I calculate roughly 40nA based on datasheet graphs, but this is for different Vin/Vout under load. What would it be for their use-case?

Looking at Figure 1 of the datasheet, I would expect it to be pretty similar at the higher Vin, but Figure 9 shows a much different Iq over Vin. Is the only difference between these graphs Ven=1.1V vs Ven=Vin? If so, is the difference due to EN leakage?

Please let me know if you need any additional details.

Thanks,

Antonio

  • Hi Antonio,

What is the customer's voltage on En pin? Is Ven = Vin?

Yes, the ground current (Iq) is approximately 2% of Iout for Iout < 5 uA when Vin = Ven. Iq of 40 nA is what I would expect.

From figure 1, Iq is flat across Vin at 25°C if Vin = Ven.

Iq increases with Vin, if Vin > Ven as shown in Figure 9. Vin = 4 V, Ven = 1.1 V yields Iq = 1.1 uA.
