TPS61322: External parts selection

Part Number: TPS61322

Hi team,

My customer is interested in the TPS61322A. Could you support the external parts selection?

Condition

Vin : 3.3V

Vout : 5V

Iout : 200mA(max)

-Output Capacitor

Customer would like to use GRM21BB31H475ME51 or GRM21BR61C226ME44. Could you let me know how much effective capacitance is required for 5V output?

GRM21BB31H475ME51  : Effective capacitance 3.64uF at 5V DC bias

GRM21BR61C226ME44. : Effective capacitance 9.883uF at 5V DC bias

-Inductor

The Webench recommends 2.2uH for the condition above. On the other hand, the Table.6 in the d/s recommends 4.7uH as well. Which one is better for the condition above? If customer desires lower ripple current, should I recommend 4.7uH?

-External diode(between SW and Vout)

Is the external diode required for the 5V/200mA?

Regards,

Yamaguchi

  • Hi Yamaguchi:

    Thanks for reaching out.

The 4.7uh is more recommended. And please ensure the Cout efficiency value larger than 10uF. So GRM21BR61C226ME44 and together with another small capacitance will be OK.

For 5V/200mA, there is no required with a external diode.
