TLVH431B: TLVH431B Operating free-air temperature

Part Number: TLVH431B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLVH431

Hello Support team,

My customer inquires TLVH431B Operating free-air temperature. What temperature condition the "Operating free-air temperature Ta" can be accepted? e.g, -I is Ta up to 85degC, this means that it can be accepted that open air temperature Ta is up to 85degC and junction Tj is under abs max 150degC. Or should they consider this free-air temperature as maximum junction temperature?

TLVH431B has three temperature option, -C, -I and -Q. However, the typical characteristic curve looks to be same. Are these chip physically same?

Thanks,

Koji Ikeda

  • Hi Koji,

The TLVH431 has 3 different temperature grades which have different EC table guarantees. This means that even if the the devices are physically the same, they will go through different test programs with different test limits to ensure that the specifications are met.

The Operating free-air temperature is specified for Ta, so Tj can be higher than Ta. The drawback is that the temperature specifications in the EC table are specified for Tj. So if you do operate Tj>Ta(max), the temperature deviation might be higher than what is on the EC table.
